Perhaps the biggest disadvantage of solar and wind energy is that the winds can die down and the clouds can cover the sun, meaning less efficiency during undesirable weather conditions. It will be important to have backup power sources for when solar and wind energy will not be able to generate enough power. Also, currently, implementing solar and wind energy is also quite expensive. Whether you plan on using these systems for private residences, commercial properties, or government-sanctioned public use, you will have to expect to spend quite a lot. Also, it often takes a lot of real estate to make effective and efficient wind and solar farms.
